Remember Donate It Forward...

Ronlaroy did it through the forum here, I have done it and I recommend you do it to.  What is it, you ask?  Contribute any excess donations you may have over the $2500 minimum to others who have not yet reached $2500.

How do you find people?  There are heaps of ways.
  • Go to the DONATE NOW link on the ride page, click on "Search for a participant" then type in random first (or last) name and see what pops up.  Click on a couple of riders names and see where their donation levels are at.  Check out their Honour Roll.  If you see a rider with a $2 donation made in their own name, that means they have made a delayed self-contribution for the remainder, so I'm sure whatever you could contribute would be appreciated.
  • As your fellow riders - friends or training buddies you've met.  Maybe they know someone who is running a little shy on donations.  This is how I did it and often the recipient doesn't even know who you are, making the contribution even more appreciated.
  • Contact the ride office.  I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.
  • Look for fundraisers being promoted either in the discussion boards or on the Facebook page, especially over the last couple of weeks.  These are most likely good signs someone hasn't met their minimum yet.
Just as you would think it sucky if you couldn't take part in the ride because you didn't hit the $2500 mark, others are going to either not be able to ride Saturday, or be faced with a huge contribution out of their own pockets to make up the shortfall.  If you would appreciate someone helping you out if you were not going to make it to your target, please consider making a contribution so another rider can go.

In the end, it all goes to the same great cause and while it's great to say "I've raised $X for the BC Cancer Foundation..." I personally think it's better knowing that I did that AND helped another rider to reach their goal.

Good luck to everyone, and I'll see you on Saturday!
