I am looking for any riders in Victoria to train with or join a team that have signed up for the 2010 ride i look forward to hearing from you leave a message. thank you
I am in Victoria, I just signed up today for the 2010 ride. I have a pretty busy schedule, but maybe we can find a time that works for rides? Let me know!
I'm in Victoria too. Just signed up Nov. 1. Are you guys going to one of the orientations? I'll be at the one in Oak Bay. It would be great to get a training group together.
I'm looking for riding buddies as well; I'm out in Sidney, but it's a great cycle out here on the Lochside Trail (approx 30 kms), then put your bike on the bus and head home. I am willing to meet in Victoria if anyone is interested in cycling back to Sidney or vice-versa (you bring your bike here on the bus and we cycle back to Victoria). Reply with contact info and we can set something up - the more, the merrier! (and the faster the ride goes!)
Hi All, if you are looking for group rides the best place I know of are the Bike shops. Rider's has one on Sunday @10, Pro city Saturday @ 8 Russ hayes Tuesday @6 and Thursdays as well ithink. Oak bay has a nasty ride on Saturday mornings as well I think it is at 9. Just call around and I am sure they will tell you. I am going to try some of them out when the weather improves
Hey all, I'm with the Guns N' Hoses team, some of us are heading out this sat the 30th at 9 on the galloping goose by walmart, where it Y's to go downtown or to the west shore. Anyone's welcome to join us. Usually we head out to Sidney for a coffee then ride home. Could make it longer or shorter. Hope to see you there.
Almost March, now. If anyone wants to go out on Sundays for, say 50km, I'm game. I ride with the Oak bay guys on Saturday, and Sunday would be a good addition.
With the time change happening on March 14th there will be a lot of new rides to take part in. Rider's cycle has one on Monday nights at 6 or 6:30 and is usually fairly mellow 25-28kph average. Pro City has a good one if you are a morning person 8:30 Saturdays, Russ hayes has a mellow and an aggressive ride on Tuesdays and Thursdays leaving at 6pm and lastly on Saturday am 9ish there is a long nasty ride leaving Oak Bay cycles and from what I hear it can be very aggressive, and 90+km long.
Hi there, I would love to find a riding/training group/partner, but I'm not ready for those long, fast, aggressive rides yet. I've been riding solo and averaging about 20kph (depending on those darn hills!) on a 30-40km ride. Definitely not ready for the Oak Bay Bike Saturday morning grind!!! Are you interested in trying a ride together? If it warms up again!
HI there! Tracy Scott here. Whereabouts do you live? I am doing okay getting out on my own and with my husband but it would be nice to support each other the odd time. I live in the Deep Cove area of North Saanich ( Sidney). TS
That sounds great; I've been riding on my own, but it certainy would be nice to have someone else to ride with once in a while. I live right in Sidney; the kicker is that I work on call, shift work (BC Ferries), so it can be a bit tricky to set up rides (which is why I've been riding on my own a lot).
Hey Tracey and Carol, can I join you guys? I live in the depths of Oak Bay but I have a bike rack. I too have been training alone or with my husband. I'd love to get together! I have a very flexible schedule... Karen
Looks like a beautiful Saturday coming up. Any one in the low speed group interested for a morning ride? I plan to leave around 9 am and tour around the peninsula for about 3 hours. I'm in Cordova Bay.
Saturday sounds great; are you starting from Oak Bay? I'm in Sidney, are you riding out this way? I've been riding an average speed of 18 kms so your ride sounds about right for me.
Tracy are you interested?
I sail on Sundays, so not able to ride; other than that a (somewhat) flexible schedule.
This might be easier if you call me on my cell: 250-216-8714
Sorry I couldn't join you today; I am working tomorrow (Sunday), but am planning on heading into Victoria on Monday to run some errands and then cycle home to Sidney on the Lochside Trail. You're welcome to join me if you're interested; let me know and I will contact you with a meeting time & place.
Hi I am an idiot!!! I lost my post and did not have the alert set. You must think me an oaf! I have a wierd schedule too but flexible. How is your training going?
HI Harry I am tied up with Easter plans this weekend and I really should have helped my husband set up a group ride for out team and didn't. I am not going to think about the distance - I just can't. I think there is a Celebration Station where you can get a ride to camp at the 100km mark each day but I am not sure where I got that info -good to know tho. I did a 60 km ride on Thu and managed 24.5km/hour but don't think I could maintain that for a whole day - just want to get in the habit of getting my speed up if I can. I was baffed that aft but good yesterday. Let's just look week to week and forget the total distance - Best of Luck! Tracy
