Mack Kirk Roofing & Sheet Metal has formed a cycling team of all abilities to participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer once again as we have done the last two years raising in excess of $135,000.00 for the BC Cancer Foundation. We are looking to expand our efforts this year and want to recruit more riders whether you are a first timer or a seasoned veteran. We have about 15 members signed up this year so far. The owners of Mack Kirk will donate complete riding uniforms to all team members. This years uniform was a pair of bib shorts, a long sleeve riding shirt and a short sleeved shirt all with hidden zippers made by atac sportswear. Next year we intend to add riding jackets since we have been rained on both years. Our uniforms arent just functional they look good too!
Our company owner Gino was given 3 months to live about 5 years ago and with the help of his doctors and family he managed to beat the odds and now has a clean bill of health. My father passed away from cancer last year and truthfully up to that point I had never even considered any charitable work before. Now i can not even pass by a collection box anywhere without putting some change in it.
Another thing Gino and his wife do for the team is they rent a private coach so that our friends and family can come and cheer us on. (they have to rent their own rooms for the night though) and if our team grows significantly we will consider adding our own crew truck to the ride. At the end of the ride we all jump in to the coach and ride back the way we started, as a team We have training days and fundraising events and sometimes barbeques/swim parties at Gino and Chris's acerage in Pitt Meadows.
Anyways we are a great bunch of fun loving people who are just looking to expand our group and as far as we are concerned the more the merrier I ran across many a single rider while on the ride and wondered if they wouldn't rather be on a team. Each rider must commit to gathering $2500.00 in donations in order to qualify for the ride as you know and some of the better donation getters do not mind sharing with people that are trying hard but falling a bit short.

Hi again everyone... just to update you all a bit on the team. We are now 33 riders strong and are looking for more so if any of you have already signed up as a single rider and would like to join in on a team experience then we would love to have you.
