just wanted to update everyone on how my pubnight went. It was a total success with just over 70 people attending. I have a couple of tips if you're planning the same type of event:
- Do a toonie toss - if you haven't heard of this before, basically everyone takes masking tape, writes their name on it and wraps the toonie. You then put the prize on the dance floor or where ever and people line up to toss toonies at it from a tape line. I had 5 cases of beer donated so I did two toonie tosses. If you have a 'classier crowd' then I did you can buy a bottle of wine, or even gift cards. I found that having two was a great way to show the people how much fun it was and they bought a ton of toonies off me for the second round. (I brought $300 worth of toonies just in case) My total take from the toonie toss alone was about $220
- 50/50!! Everyone knows and understands this one. I adjusted it slightly and made a form so if people were leaving early they could write down their name and ticket range on it. This sold a lot of tickets - you had a way to twist those rubber arms so to speak... I also put a box that they could check saying they would like to donate the winnings back to the ride. The winner kindly donated all of the winnings and the take from this was about $400
- Ticket sales were tough, but I found riding to peoples homes was an effective way to get their attention and sell tickets! I sold mine for $15 - which was $8 profit/ticket. I deligated good friends that wanted to help out the duty of selling 10 tickets each. This worked great and took the pressure off me.
Lastly, I made team shirts out at Instant Imprints in Surrey. Great store to deal with and very quick! This wasn't necessary but it helped the rest of the people in the bar understand what the cause was and why we were asking for their money.
If you have questions please just ask. It was a lot of fun and I felt so empowered to have so many smiling and supportive faces show up!
My friend and I just had a fundraiser at a pub as well. It went extremely well, we raised about 1300 dollars in one night. We had just over 100 tickets sold, and the rest of the money came from a raffle.
If you have some extra time (I know none of us do), I recommend going to local businesses (Small ones are best) and asking for in kind donations. We had some awesome donations from people for the raffle. We drew prizes every 30 minutes... making it exciting to everyone who was there. We sold the tickets for $5 for 3 tickets, and people had no problem paying that.
Hope this helps!
