A friend of mine has told me about a ride called the Pacific Populaire which will take place on April 4th this year. The ride is organized by a cycling club called the Randonneurs. There are 25, 50 and 100 km options. There is a fee for the ride but you can save some money if you pre-register. I am told that it is a very well organized event. Although I've never participated before, I am planning to attend. For more information, try this link:
I am signing up for the 100 km. I did several 100+ km rides last year but this will be my first for this year. I figure that with the Ride 2 1/2 months later it will be good to ramp up the long rides.
There's a Populaire in Victoria as well, on March 28. The distances are 50km and 100km. For more information, check out the website: www.randonneurs.bc.ca I think it would be a great ride, not only for the distances, but to get used to riding in a group. Sounds like fun!
