Route Details

Does anyone have any idea when we'll get some details on the route?  I know there is the You Tube thing floating around, but something more specific/clear would be helpful.  I was hoping we would hear something before the day of the ride.

We phoned the office last Friday as we live in the neighborhood we will be riding through, hoping to get at least one for sure spot we could let people know of. We were told we wouldn't get anything specific until day of!!! I do understand why but its really too bad for friends and family who want to come and support especially since we're only spending an hour or so in CANADA. Ya they can drive 20 minutes away to a cheering station but we are going within a 2 minute drive from our homes. Unfortunate.

From what I can descern from the online videos, the ride is quite similar to last year. The first part is a little different from last as it shows it going South on 152 St. to Fraser Hwy. where it swings SE to 168 St. which goes straight South to 32 Ave. There appears to be a bit of a descrepancy there as there is an advertised cheering station at 15802 80 Ave. This would lead me to believe that we will be branching off Fraser Hwy. on 156 St., taking it South to 80 Ave. From there I suspect it will go East to 168 St. and carry on from there.

It looks like we take 32 Ave. East to 184 St. and then South to 8 Ave. which we take West to 172 St. and then to the Pacific Border Crossing.

It looks like everything from there on is the same as last year up until the very last. The last part of the ride seems to follow the Burke Gilman Trail, but instead of carrying on to the University of Washington as we did last year, we turn left into Magnuson Park. This seems to be the end point of the ride. I supect that the total distance will be a little shorter than last year by at least a couple of kilometres.

Anyway, Thats my take on it.

Stop the presses.

The information I gave above about the end point is totally wrong.  We found out today that the finish will be at McNair Field in Marymoor Park in Redmond.  The Google Earth coordinates are 47 deg 39 min 31.97 sec N, 122 deg 07 min 02.21 sec W.

I called the office to get the location because my wife will be driving down to be there when we arrive and she needed to know where to go.  Because the organizers were so secretive about all this we are committed to a hotel we booked way over in downtown Seattle.  Well, I guess we'll have to live with it.

Cheers,

erniek

What the heck!

Does that make the ride considerably shorter or is it adding kilometers?

Its sure hard to have anyone meet you when they do stuff like that! I was originally having my family drive down to meet me but changed to coming back by bus. Just as glad I did.

It looks to be about the same distance on the map.  Redmond appears to be almost across the water from the original finish line.

Cheers,
